Medium Trance is much the same as light trance (only drifting deeper) and is usually the responsibility of the hypnotist to convince the volunteers that they are going deeper all the time. At the beginning of every show I give several instructions including “Every time you return to sleep you will go ten times deeper than before”. A command like this coupled with waking hypnosis and ‘convincers’  such as the hot and cold routine and the glued to the stage routine, will guide people to continually relaxing more deeply throughout the show, and can sometimes end up with people drifting from light or medium trance into states even deeper than somnambulism!
