Global Warming Chart Over Time

I just saw a chart that shows the history of temperature from a Greenland ice core which tracks trends over thousands of years. It is a window into natural - not manmade - climate change throughout the history of the Earth.

So what does it mean for us today? Well, we’re clearly living in one of the “peak” periods, after the significant cooling trough that is known as the ‘Little Ice Age.’  Our current climate cycle is a rebound (perfectly natural) from that devastating cold trough. How high could this particular peak go? Based on the natural peaks that the planet has experienced in the past, maybe another 2.5°C.

Although our modern peak is very mediocre in regards to maximum temperature change, and is becoming old in terms of duration, it absolutely has become the most contentious natural climate change period ever known to humans. Why?
