Are Churros a Mexican or a Spanish Recipe?

Churros are deep fried flour dough pipes that are bland to taste and get the flavor from the sugar they are tossed in. The Spanish serve Churros for breakfast sprinkled with sugar, while many other countries savour it all year round as a snack. Like mentioned above, Churros is a very popular US street food sold everywhere especially the Mexican dominant areas. Mexicans also enjoy Churros and have made it popular in the US because of which many assume it to a be a Mexican recipe.
