I unintentionally got a front row viewing last week on the importance of working safe and smart in the construction industry. I was helping my children’s school class build a raised bed planter for their botany studies. Whilst reviewing the Dos and Don’t of the power tools we were using to saw, drill, and nail the lumber, one of my daughter’s classmates related how her dad had cut off a fingertip, almost lost and eye and various other misadventures. What she didn’t mention was that her dad and others could have easily obtained Blue Card Online and avoided the trauma and drama. White cards (which used to be called Blue Cards) are Australian Occupational Health & Safety cards required by construction workers.
